Based on your interest and passion

as a 20 month old, here is what I think your profession will be

Relocation Expert

          One of the things you love to do is move things from one place to another. For e.g.: rather than playing with blocks, you would rather move it from one bag to another. You like to put things away, if there is any mail or paper on the table, you will put it in trash or the recycling bin, you like to move books from first floor to second floor. The intensity and focus you have in your eyes while you do these tasks is amazing.

If you continue doing this, I think your future is in relocation.

I am hoping that when you grow up, humans have figured out how to navigate to other planets. It will be cool if you are part of the relocation team, helping people move between planets. Maybe we will not be so advanced yet, and maybe there will still be crisis in the world and refugees pouring in from one country to another. Maybe you will help these people who are in desperate needs and help them settle in their new homeland. either way, you will be pretty good at it.

Shoe Police

          As you know, we wear slippers inside the house. Whenever you see any slipper lying around and I am not wearing one, you will get the slipper from its place and tell me “Amma shoes”, then you will put this in front of me. You are satisfied only after I have worn it. This may sound like a mundane thing to you now, but believe me, you took this task pretty seriously. If you continue with this , I see a career for you in law enforcement.

DJ

             As soon as you enter the kitchen , you say Maasic Maasic and point to the music system. You know the buttons to press to play music and once the music starts you start clapping your hands and laughing. I think you can make some money being a part time DJ. Just don't party too much!!

No

            I know all toddlers do this, and you also do this with great charm and with such obstinance. The power of No, you say No to everything, do you want to take shower - No, do you want to go out - No, do you want to put on the jacket - No. Well, it works most of the time for few minutes and as parents we make you do them all anyway....I guess you are learning early that even though you say No, people still want it to be Yes.

As a 2 year old, here is what I think your profession will be

Truck Driver/ Lawn mover driver

Ok, You are obsessed with trucks and bulldozers, tow trucks and anything construction related. I am not exactly sure why. I know I read a lot of books on this subject, but i also read a lot of books on animals, people and places. But you find big vehicles to be your favorite subject. You talked to me recently for 1/2 hr about how you will buy a lawn mover and drive it, cut grass. But I cannot “jaache”, only you can do it. The mover is very loud, but you will reduce the volume and so on...

Fire Alarm/Smoke detector

        I have never seen any child (not that I know many) who is so much obsessed with Fire alarm and smoke detector. I have to tell you stories everyday , you role play as smoke detector, baba is the fire alarm and I am the carbon monoxide detector. When I bake something, you ask me , can you make some smoke so that the fire alarm goes off. You love fire drills at day care and listening to the story when there was an actual fire alarm that went off.

as a 3 year old, here is what I think your profession will be

Volcanologist

You love volcanoes, it all started when we explained to you about dinosaurs being extinct and when you saw the volcano monster in Moana. I did my part to make up stories and show you pictures of Hawaii Volcano National Park. You love drawing volcanoes and looking at pretty much everything and finding a relation to lava and magma chamber. For eg : the sunset or a watermelon looks like a volcano.

as a 4 year old,

You declared recently : " It is so hard to decide what I want to be when I grow up because I am so good at so many things "

You do performances every night , you stand on the fireplace and sing . The funny thing is how you start the performance. Each time you say - My name is Alimia Jingal or some other fun name, I am 14 years old and I am going to sing about my brother/me. The songs are usually made up, the lyrics are super awesome with what is happening around you. You want to be a singer

We have been taking you to some races, now you want to be a runner, esp with my training on couch to 5K

And of course you want to be an engineer and you are very specific what you want to be - a hardware engineer working on finger print sensors :)
