Embrace your real look

I was chatting with my colleague yesterday and she said how she had to come back to work at night to get a print out. She said she had just showered, hair wet, no makeup, just casual clothes and I met some people at work and I was horrified, really horrified and she looked horrified and embarrassed. She kept talking but all I could think was - Well, that's how I show up to work on most days, I just shower and show up with no makeup. But what is so bad about it. Why would you be horrified?

Dear baby , girls have been taught at a young age that they look pretty if they tie their hair well, if they wear pretty clothes, if their shoes match and the list goes on. You are beautiful if you do this this and that. There are countless websites and books dedicated to making women beautiful. It is true that everyone looks better after they clean themselves up, wear nice fitting clothes.

If I or your baba are going to an interview or a wedding, we make sure we are dressed for the occasion. But that does not mean that in your everyday life you get horrified because you have few gray hairs, a stubble or you don't have your lipstick on. I am not against make up, but if it makes you horrified to see your colleagues without makeup, then I have a problem with that.

Makeup can make you feel confident, but it should be just an aid, not the primary source of your confidence and beauty. I am against wearing high heels everyday as I love my feet and you should too! That's a whole new post where I will rant about high heels.

I really hope that when you grow up to be a young lady, your confidence and self worth is not based on how pointy your heels are or how much mascara you have. I really hope you are not ashamed of your morning look. Morning look to me means well rested, cute messy hair and comfy clothes. Yes, it also includes bad breath and some drool, it just means you have to stay humble and no matter how glamorous we all try to be, we are all animals. There is nothing wrong with that, it is just normal.

Showered look is the best with squeaky clean hair, bright eyes and a clear mind. Every look should be embraced , not just the made up one. After all, if you don't love your just showered look, who is going to.
