Once upon a time, there was a little girl whose favorite
joke was, “What do volcanoes eat for dinner? , answer is - Ashed Potatoes”, and her favorite
weekend activity was making lava, and who dressed up as a volcano for Halloween.
So it was a no brainer to come up for a theme for her 4th
birthday – Volcanoes.
We made this birthday card for inviting your
friends and picked a venue. It’s a nice indoor play park and the thing I liked
about the place was that when the party is going on, there are no other
parties going on or public allowed. So it feels very private and cozy.
I woke up at 4:30 am to make your birthday cake. I came up with the idea of using a chocolate bundt cake as the mountain and poured loads of frosting as the lava. The lava was a little tricky as I am a novice at piping. So after some attempts, I decided to make the frosting liquid and just used a spoon and poured it over the top of the “mountain”. Gravity did its trick and viola – it looked almost like lava. I made two colors of frosting – pink and red. Then I added some M&Ms as rocks. We lighted a candle in the center of the mountain and we had a active volcano!

I also made some cupcakes and we added some mountains on them
too! You helped make these toothpick mountains and you were super excited about
it.
Baba made some hanging decorations using seed pot as
mountain and paper to simulate the Plinian eruption.
The party day was snowy, but the party was indoors and we
had a blast! You and your friends were a bundle of energy! It was fun to
interact with parents. The best part of all was seeing all the picky preschoolers all eat the cake!
I mean most of the 3-4 year old I know are just interested in the frosting. But in this case, they ate the cake too and even wanted seconds, which made me the happiest cook in the room!

Then we took you for lunch to your restaurant of choice and you had a giant shake. You were very happy and I am so proud to be the mother of a healthy, well behaved, intelligent and curious 4 year old!
