I never knew that this would bring me so much joy...

Like most young people I had little clue what I was signing up when I had children. No matter how many books you read about parenting or see others do it, theory does not prepare you for the joy, the work and the worry. Here are few things I absolutely love about taking care of young children which I would have never thought if I didn't have you both.

1) Cutting your hair.

Both my babies were born with a huge lock of gorgeous black hair. This means before you were even 6 months old, I had to trim it. According to Indian custom, when the baby is 3-6 months old, the baby's head get shaved and all hair removed.

I was not a big fan of this custom as the memories I have of this is screaming children in a temple and a stranger cutting their hair with vigor. So I did not want to do it, just a little trim.

The first time I trimmed your hair, I made an absolute mess, both how I cut it, made you sit , hair everywhere....Since then I have become pretty good at it with experience and clever ideas.

Last week I cut the little one's hair - his second hair cut in 10 months. Now, I have the procedure nailed down. I put you on the bath tub where you are the happiest and would continue playing. I had a good view of the hair as I was slightly on top of you. Then I go, snip, snip, snip. There is no struggle, no mess. After the trim, I just wash off the hair from you, finish your bath and we are good to go.

For reasons unknown to me, I love it, I absolutely love doing this.  Just looking at the hair, the instant change in your appearance brings that goofy grin on my face.

2) Having breakfast

I am big on breakfast and love making a nice breakfast for myself. Even in the morning rush, it is fun to start my day with both of you munching near me. Love it every single day!

These days the little one is on my lap usually eating oats. Most days he is so happy that he "kisses" me on my shoulders, sort of a snuggly thing he does and I have oats on my office shirt!! I love the breakfast not so much the oats on my shirt!

3) Making popsicle

We try not to give you too much juice, but I make these popsicles by pouring some water and fresh orange juice or pom juice. I love watching you eat it.

4) Watching you sleep

This one is a cliche, There is something mesmerizing watching anyone sleep, especially your baby. Just seeing this bundle of energy quiet and sleeping is a sight that I never get bored of....
